Consultations Services

At Labtam we specialise in working with our customers to get projects off the ground and into the market.

If you have a project on the go or are trying to get one off the ground, we are here to help. Our expert staff are available to consult on projects of any size or at any stage,  from the short run prototype to full scale production.

If you are working to drive additional cost out of your product or improve stability, we can help. We can work with you to assess the build process, design and supply to achieve your goal without compromising the integrity of the product.

Your bright ideas don't need to sit on the shelf or in the back of your mind. Talk to us about your project and we can help take it from dream to reality.

As a Contract Manufacturer, Labtam assembles products to our customer’s specifications & does not bear the responsibility of existing product design complying with the RoHS directive. However, we provide support & guidance to our customers in the transition to Lead Free Electronic Manufacturing.

Only genuine Manufacturers Identification/Conformance is used to establish process & accept Lead Free material into stock. Labtam has made significant investment on dedicated equipment to cater for RoHS Compliant Process Manufacturing.

ERSA Hotflow 2/14 Reflow Oven, ERSA Versaflow Dual Solective Soldering, Dual Head Wave Soldering Machine & Dedicated Lead Free Soldering Stations are just some of the additions.

Lead Free SAC & SN100C alloys are used throughout production for RoHS Compliant Soldering. RoHS Certificate of Compliance’s are available on request Consigned Materials Management

PCB Assembly

Full Turn-Key Assembly

Labtam manufacture to meet our clients requirements and thus is highly flexible in the service it provides.

A turnkey or a turnkey project, is a type of project that is constructed so that it could be sold to any buyer as a completed product.

This is as apposed with build to order, where the constructor builds an item to the buyer's exact specifications, or when an incomplete product is sold with the assumption that the buyer would complete it.

In-House PCB Design

Labtam are specialists in the assembly of surface mount & through hole PCB’s. We are positioned to provide flexibility in PCB Assembly ranging anywhere between:

Low Volume – High Component

Mix to High Volume – Medium Component

Mix assembly capabilities include: single and double sided SMT; through-hole PCB Assembly; RoHS compliant manufacturing utilizing dual head solective soldering & conventional wave soldering machines loaded with SN100C Lead Free Alloy.

Computerised Automatic Optical Inspection (AOI) Fast Track Verification techniques. Manufacture to IPC Standards Functional PCB Testing Product Assembly & Test

Design For Manufacture

The best designs are possible when designer and manufacturer are working together on PCB design guidelines, component selection, optimised manufacture process & test strategy.

This gives our customers access to advanced technology, reduces the workload and cost of product design, and speeds up the product development cycle time.

The simpler the design, utilizing conventional manufacturing techniques & testing principals equates to: cheaper, faster, higher quality & reliability in products.

Labtam employs design methodologies that utilises the most efficient & practical processing principals. By doing so it allows Labtam to achieve optimum process yields during product assembly and testing.

We liaise closely with customers & offer Design for Manufacture reviews on their designs.

Labtam offers a full electronic design service and can assist our clients in developing every stage of their product. At Labtam we can develop and design the circuit boards needed to meet the demands of product from the very complex to the most basic.

Labtam can also design and develop plastic, metal and materials needed in your product. our partners both in Australia and overseas can assist in meeting demanding prototype scheduled whilst also insuring costs is driven out of each and every stage of the product design, development and manufacture.

Prototyping

Optical Inspection - AOI

Labtam stems from a long history in R&D Product Development. We understand and encourage the need for small prototype & pre-production machine loaded runs.

Labtam can supply or source componentry from our extensive inventory and supply partners, alternatively components can be supplied by the client. Labtam has the experience, knowledge, flexibility & capability to accommodate fast turnaround prototype runs to meet critical time lines.

Quality: The hallmark of Labtam over the years has been the outstanding quality of work produced in our plant. This exceptional commitment to quality continues today through our dedicated staff, without compromise.

The plant is certified to and operates within the framework of AS/NZS ISO 9001: 2008 The Factory works to IPC Standards for Quality of Workmanship IPC-A-610 Class II Standard Operation IPC-A-610 Class III On Request

In line with Labtam's commitment to quality the Saki BF-series inspection system, called the Bf-Voyager offers high throughput, high resolution inspection of surface mount placement and soldering.

The system is capable of inspecting the largest of circuit boards (or panels of boards). It provides total inspections including inspection of solder printing condition, so important in the effective loading of BGA/CSP devises.

Labtam is continually looking at ways to improve the quality of its processes.

This equipment is capable of adding significantly to our quality inspection processes which ultimately reduces the opportunity for field failures.

Selective Soldering

Single & Double Sided SMT

Selective soldering is the process of selectively soldering components to printed circuit boards and molded modules that could be damaged by the heat of a reflow oven in a traditional surface-mount technology (SMT) assembly process.

This usually follows an SMT oven reflow process; parts to be selectively soldered are usually surrounded by parts that have been previously soldered in a surface-mount reflow process, and the selective-solder process must be sufficiently precise to avoid damaging them.

Surface-mount technology (SMT) is a method for producing electronic circuits in which the components are mounted or placed directly onto the surface of printed circuit boards (PCBs). An electronic device so made is called a surface-mount device (SMD).

In the industry it has largely replaced the through-hole technology construction method of fitting components with wire leads into holes in the circuit board. Both technologies can be used on the same board for components not suited to surface mounting, such as large transformers and heat-sinked power semiconductors.

A SMT component is usually smaller than its through-hole counterpart because it has either smaller leads or no leads at all. It may have short pins or leads of various styles, flat contacts, a matrix of solder balls (BGAs), or terminations on the body of the component.
